Local philanthropist, entrepreneur, pet-care specialist, and owner of Paws Pet Care Pet Sitting & Dog Walking, 
Betheny Buster, has announced the opening of two Paws Pet Care Pet Sitting & Dog Walking franchises, serving Downtown Louisville and Southern Indiana. The Paws Pet Care franchise(s) were purchased by Carrie Martin, who worked for Betheny as a pet sitter and dog walker for a year before deciding to buy into the company and purchase her own Paws Pet Care franchises.
Paws Pet Care now has franchise opportunities throughout the state of Kentucky, excluding the established East Louisville market, which Betheny plans to continue to operate as is. She stated “The pet care industry is booming and because more and more people prefer not to board or kennel their pets, private, in-home pet care needs are rapidly expanding. Pet ownership is increasing annually, along with the amount of money that people are willing to invest in their furry family members. This makes for smart business opportunity with a Paws Pet Care franchise.”
Betheny has over 20 years of pet and home care experience for friends, family and her community. She formerly opened her East Louisville pet sitting and dog walking business in August of 2010 and now serves over 700 clients locally and oversees 30 Independent Pet Care Providers. She successfully franchised Paws Pet Care Pet Sitting & Dog Walking in March of 2017.
When asked about the importance of pet sitting services, she explained, “Staying in a kennel is often more stressful to pets than their owners realize. With our services, pets can be cared for in the comfort of their own homes – in the surroundings they know best.” She decided to launch her business to provide a much-needed service in this community and to pursue her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for working with animals.
Walking, feeding and providing general care pets during owner absences is the primary function of Paws Pet Care, and services also include medication administration, hotel pet sitting, pet transportation, boarding in a sitter’s home and other pet-related services. Additionally, services are not limited to dogs and cats, but include all companion animals, including exotics.
“While dogs and cats make up the bulk of our clientele, we also provide care for birds, fish, backyard chickens, bunnies, reptiles, exotics, pet pigs and other small mammals,” she added.
A Louisville native, and self-proclaimed animal lover, in 2013 Betheny also founded and directs a local grassroots nonprofit called “My Dog Eats First”, whose mission is to provide pet food, supplies and veterinary care to the homeless and underserved with companion animals in Louisville, Kentucky. When asked about the importance of serving her constituents she replied “Money, or the lack thereof shouldn’t be a measuring stick for who deserves to be loved. We believe in the love and companionship that companion animals bring to their underserved and homeless owners. Everyone deserves someone that makes them look forward to tomorrow.”
