The summer months are a great time to grab your best canine pal and head out for some fun, exercise or relaxation in the great out-of –doors. Louisville is an amazing pet friendly city that provides many places for you and your dog to enjoy.

Listed below are just a few of the MANY pet friendly spots here in Louisville to try out. Before you head out, please do some independent research to be sure of operating hours and rules that apply to you and your dog and always use the best of etiquette while you’re out so Louisville can continue to be pet friendly!!

Garvin Brown Preserve
This is a privately run 46 acre nature preserve that is open to the public from dawn until dusk.

Louisville Riverwalk
These trails are supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. It’s a non-profit organization that is creating trails out of old rail lines. The Riverwalk features scenic views overlooking 26th

Mega Cavern
This is a dog friendly tour though the man-made caverns right beneath the city of Louisville. Your dog must be on a six foot leash at all times during this 60 minute tour.

Brown Park
This pet friendly park has asphalt walking trails through wooded areas along and over historic Beargrass Creek. Bring your picnic basket and hot dogs as there are picnic tables and bbq grills throughout the park.

Louisville Waterfront Park
Take your pet along to enjoy this park alongside the river. There are shaded trails and your dog is always welcome as long as he’s on a leash!

Sawyer Dog Park
If your dog is looking for some off-the-leash time, this is the park for him! This park boasts two gazebos, plenty of shade and six acres of grass to romp in. This dog park is divided into two sections, to keep large and small dogs apart. A dog park permit is required for this park so be sure to apply for that ahead of time.
